What Abortion and Homeschooling SHOULD have in common

Okay, I am rabidly pro-life.  RABIDLY.  I would LOVE to see the weakest among us protected.  Pragmatically I understand that this is a dream beyond attainability, the World is too broken for that.  However, I still hope, and can see the possibility of Roe v. Wade being overturned....In fact, I pray for it.  However, to the relief of my Pro-Choice friends, and the dismay of my fellow Pro-Lifers, this won't outlaw abortion.

Roe V. Wade was wrongly decided because it federalizes something that should have been left in the capable hands of the states.  In fact, I think we can point to this decision by the court as the start of Judaical activism.  The Constitution's design was such that the Federal Government was only responsible for the things specified within it's writings ...with everything else being the state's responsibility.  Our founders wanted a STRONG people and a weak government.  It was DESIGNED that way, because a weak government is the opposite of what they experienced under English rule.

So, what does homeschooling have to do with Abortion you ALL are asking.  Well, the official stance of the Federal Government in regard to homeschooling is:.....'that's up to the states'  I believe this should be their stance on Abortion as well.  Put it in the capable hands of our elected state officials, or even <gasp> the voters.

It is unlikely that anywhere in the US would be successful at outright eliminating the death of the innocent pre-born.  What we would more likely see is that, like homeschooling, there would be variation in when and under what conditions abortion would happen.  And yes, if you didn't meet the conditions in your state, you would have to travel, but at least you wouldn't have to move, which is what someone from a more restrictive homeschooling state (like PA) would have to do if they desired less restrictive homeschooling laws.

So, half of you think I don't give a crap about women, right, because I don't want them to have the choice about what do to with their bodies. right?  Wrong.  I feel terribly for women who are faced with the heartbreaking decision to terminate a pregnancy, no matter what they decide.  However, their body isn't just theirs when they are pregnant, it is also their baby's home...and while I would NEVER EVER EVER terminate, EVER, I can even see the argument for the (VERY VERY VERY rare instance) of abortion for incest, rape, and life of the mother....you may even catch me voting for that kind of legislation.

Abortion is harmful to society....it teaches that up to a certain point (12 weeks, 20 weeks, BIRTH) a human doesn't matter, they aren't worth protection.  Not a far leap from there to a person BEYOND a certain point doesn't matter...and our elderly or terminally ill, or incapacitated, aren't worth protection.
